March to Clean Energy: Challenging our Communities to Lead
March 14, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Attention is growing around clean energy, and for good reason. As the country moves rapidly to adopt efficiency measures and add renewable energy, Madison and surrounding cities are still locked into far too much dirty power due to MGE’s heavy reliance on coal for electricity. But the four major cities in Dane County are all undertaking sustainability measures, with the City of Madison poised to pass a resolution on March 21 to move City operations to 100% renewable energy.
On March 14, the Four Lakes Group of the Sierra Club, in conjunction with the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign, will host a public forum with leaders from Madison, Middleton, Monona and Fitchburg to discuss what they are doing and where they are headed on clean energy initiatives. It’s an opportunity to hear directly from our cities and leaders about actions they are taking and talk about ways we can challenge our leaders and ourselves to move forward together on renewable energy.
The forum will be held at Madison Public Library in Room 302. It will begin with a social period from 6:30 – 7 PM with light snacks and refreshments, followed by a city leaders panel from 7 – 8:30 PM with time for audience questions, and then time to mingle before the library closes at 9 PM.
